Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, visited the Save a Child’s Heart (SACH) organization during his ongoing official visit to Israel.
Based at Wolfson Medical Center, the organization has been a long-standing health partner of Rwanda, working to improve access to specialized cardiac care for children.

During the visit, SACH Chief Executive Officer Simon Fisher briefed the minister on the organization’s achievements, particularly in treating children with heart disease and strengthening the skills of medical professionals.
Hundreds of Rwandan Children Receive Life-Saving Heart Treatment
Since the partnership began in 2007, 73 Rwandan children have received specialized heart treatment in Israel.
An additional 479 children have undergone treatment in Rwanda through medical missions organized under the partnership, expanding access to life-saving healthcare for children with congenital heart conditions.
The collaboration has significantly improved the availability of specialized pediatric cardiac services for Rwandan families.
Partnership Strengthens Capacity of Rwandan Doctors
Beyond providing treatment, the partnership has focused on developing Rwanda’s healthcare workforce.
Three Rwandan doctors have completed specialized training in pediatric cardiac care through Save a Child’s Heart, while two more are currently undergoing advanced training at the organization.
The initiative aims to ensure that Rwanda continues building local expertise capable of providing specialized heart care within the country.

Save a Child’s Heart is a non-profit organization based at Israel’s Wolfson Medical Center that specializes in treating children with heart disease, particularly those from developing countries.
The organization has earned international recognition for providing advanced cardiac care and for training medical professionals from around the world to strengthen healthcare systems in their home countries.

Through its collaboration with Rwanda, Save a Child’s Heart has transformed the lives of hundreds of children by providing access to specialized treatment that was previously unavailable to many families.
As the partnership continues, both Rwanda and Save a Child’s Heart reaffirm their commitment to expanding pediatric cardiac care while strengthening the country’s capacity to provide advanced heart treatment for future generations.
