Rwanda and Kenya have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in governance, public service, education, security and other areas that can benefit citizens in both countries.
The commitment was highlighted during a recent working visit to Kenya by Ambassador Fidelis Mironko, Permanent Secretary at Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MINAFFET), and his delegation. The visit included engagements with several Kenyan institutions, including the National Defence College, the Kenya School of Government and the Foreign Service Academy.

Rwanda and Kenya Review Public Service Partnership
At the Kenya School of Government, the Rwandan delegation reviewed plans to implement a cooperation agreement between the institution and the Rwanda Management Institute (RMI).
Once operational, the agreement will support the exchange of knowledge and experience, professional training, capacity building and institutional learning between the two countries.
Kenya School of Government Highlights Public Service
Prof. Nura Mohamed, Director General of the Kenya School of Government, highlighted the institution’s role in building the skills of public servants.
The training aims to help government employees respond more effectively to citizens’ needs and deliver reliable and responsive public services.

Rwandan Delegation Visits Defence College
The delegation also visited the National Defence College in Karen, where it was received by the Commandant, Lieutenant General Juma Mwinyikai.
He briefed the delegation on the college’s mandate, academic programmes and role in developing the skills of senior leaders within the Kenya Defence Forces.
The college has also trained senior Rwandan military officers and officials from different Rwandan government institutions.

Rwanda Seeks More Institutional Cooperation
Ambassador Mironko said Rwanda values Kenya’s experience in leadership development, governance and institutional capacity building.
He called for continued cooperation in areas including governance, workforce development, trade, defence, security and joint educational initiatives.
The two countries also discussed ways of strengthening institutional links and sharing experience to support regional development.

Diplomatic Training Also Discussed
During the visit to the Foreign Service Academy, the delegation learned about Kenya’s diplomatic training programmes and approaches to professional development.
The discussions focused on exchanging expertise and identifying lessons that could strengthen diplomatic training and public service capacity in both countries.

Rwanda and Kenya Commit to Stronger Partnership
The engagements reaffirmed the relationship between Rwanda and Kenya, with both sides expressing their commitment to expanding cooperation in leadership, diplomatic training, public service and human capital development.
The two countries also agreed to continue sharing knowledge and expertise as they work to strengthen their institutions and improve services for their citizens.
