The Ministry of Education has announced that the results of the 2025/2026 national examinations for primary school and lower secondary school students will be released on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 3 p.m.
As reported by Imvaho Nshya, the Ministry of Education made the announcement on Friday, August 14, 2026, as students who sat the examinations and their parents await their results.
The Ministry also reminded Rwandans that the 2026/2027 academic year will begin on September 7, 2026.

More Than 277,000 Students Sat Primary School Examinations
The national primary school leaving examinations were conducted from July 7 to 9, 2026. At the national level, the examinations were officially launched in Kigali City at Remera Catholique Primary School by the Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana.
A total of 277,452 students sat the primary school leaving examinations, including 154,351 girls and 123,101 boys. The figures show that girls accounted for the majority of candidates.
More than 900 of the candidates were students with disabilities. They were provided with examination arrangements adapted to their respective disabilities to ensure fair conditions and allow them to demonstrate their abilities.
The primary school leaving examinations were conducted at 1,182 examination sites across the country.

Over 149,000 Candidates Sat Lower Secondary Examinations
Regarding lower secondary school, the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) announced that 149,533 students were expected to sit the national examinations during the 2025/2026 academic year.
Of these candidates, 85,587 were girls and 63,946 were boys. They were students from both public and private schools who had completed lower secondary education.
The students who sat the examinations now have only a short wait before learning the outcome of their studies. Parents are also eagerly awaiting their children’s results, particularly because the results will play a role in determining the students’ next steps in their education.
The results of the national examinations for primary school and lower secondary school will officially be released on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 3 p.m.
