Mugisha Abdoul, who played as a defender at the Tony Football Excellence Program football academy, has signed a one-year contract, with an option to extend, with Hapoel Hadera FC in Israel.
It has been almost a month since Mugisha left Rwanda for Israel to hold final talks with the club, which is known for using young players and helping them progress to major clubs around the world.
After both sides reached an agreement, 18-year-old Mugisha signed a contract that will see him play for the club during the 2026/27 season, with the contract being extended depending on his performance.
The contract also allows the player to receive everything from the club, including accommodation, transportation, and various other necessities required by a professional player.
Before leaving Rwanda, Asi Rahamim, the owner of Hapoel Hadera, told IGIHE that he was confident that the player would perform well in Israel’s second division.
He said, “I have confidence in Mugisha that he will go there, play, and show a good level. He showed that he is capable in Rwanda’s Third Division Championship and in the Under-20 category, so there is no doubt that he will also show a difference there.”
“His journey will also show that Rwanda has football talent, which will help make the Rwanda National Team stronger.”
Mugisha started playing football in the Musanze FC youth team before joining the Tony Football Excellence Program, which helped him move abroad to play football.
He left after helping the Tony Football Excellence Program play in Rwanda’s Second Division Championship, and also helped its Under-20 team win the league title.
