A man named Nsanzimana Justin, from Nyagatare Village, Gihara Cell, Runda Sector in Kamonyi District, was found dead in his home, with suspicions that he may have taken his own life. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of death.
Neighbor Notices Something Unusual
The incident came to light on July 20, 2026, after a neighbor noticed that a radio inside the house had been playing continuously for a long time. The neighbor tried knocking and calling out but received no response, and then informed a member of Nsanzimana’s family.
When family members arrived, they found the house locked from the inside. Unable to enter, they looked through a window and discovered Nsanzimana hanging from a rope, already deceased.
Brother Describes His Last Contact
His brother, Rwagatare Benoit, said he last saw him on Friday when they shared a meal as usual, and at that time he noticed no problems. On Saturday, colleagues called him to come to work, and he promised to go but never showed up. Later, his phone went silent.
The family was not immediately alarmed by his absence, since he sometimes worked as a freelance driver and could spend several days away from home.
Police and RIB Launch Investigation
The spokesperson for the Rwanda National Police in the Southern Province, CIP Hassan Kamanzi, confirmed the death, stating that Police and the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) quickly arrived at the scene to conduct investigations and collect evidence to establish the cause of death.
Family Mentions Recent Separation
Family members also mentioned that Nsanzimana had been living with his wife, but for about two weeks prior to his death they had separated, as she had left the home.
Authorities Urge Patience
Investigators emphasized that it is too early to announce the cause of death until the investigation is complete.
