Rayon Sports has failed to reach an agreement with its player, Faustin Likau, who has yet to report for the club’s pre-season training ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The Congolese midfielder is waiting for the club to provide him with a flight ticket to Rwanda, while the club insists he should pay for the trip himself or face legal action.
Club Demands Explanation
Rayon Sports recently wrote to Likau requesting that he explain why he had failed to join the team’s training sessions, which began on June 29, 2026, without informing the club of any reason. The club instructed him to report for training immediately or provide a valid explanation without delay.

Likau Cites Contractual Obligations
In his response, Likau argued that the club had failed to honor the terms of their contract regarding the provision of travel arrangements.
he said: “In accordance with the terms of our contract, there are specific provisions concerning my return flight to Kigali, where Rayon Sports is based. The club’s management is fully aware of these obligations.”
“I have not received the ticket that would allow me to travel to Kigali and begin preparations for the new season. The club has either refused or failed to provide it, preventing me from organizing my travel. I remain ready to do whatever results from further discussions.”

Rayon Sports Stands by Its Position
However, sources within Rayon Sports management maintain that Likau was entitled to only one return ticket, covering travel to Rwanda and back to his home country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. According to the club, he already used that ticket when he returned home at the end of last season.
the club said: “For that reason, Likau is expected to cover the cost of his own ticket back to Rwanda. If he fails to do so, the club will proceed in accordance with the provisions stipulated in his contract.”

As part of its preparations, Rayon Sports will face Kenya’s Gor Mahia in an international friendly match during Rayon Day, scheduled for July 18, 2026.
