Prime Minister Dr Nsengiyumva Justin asked the 16th cohort of Intore z’Indangamirwa not to leave in Gabiro the lessons and values they received in the Itorero, but to carry them wherever they go and let them guide their daily lives.
The Prime Minister made this request on Monday, August 10, during the closing ceremony of the 16th Indangamirwa Itorero, which lasted 40 days training 769 young men and women at the Gabiro Military Academy.
He told the Intore that completing the Itorero is not the end, but rather the beginning of new responsibilities, urging them to continue applying the lessons they received in Gabiro.
He said: “When you leave the Itorero and continue with your responsibilities, it is not the end, but the beginning.”
He explained that what the youth are asked to do in building and safeguarding achievements is not difficult, because they have the advantage of having been given a strong foundation to build upon.
Prime Minister Dr Nsengiyumva asked the youth to be characterized by proper values, including loving and protecting the country, and having good behavior that avoids temptations and conduct that could undermine their dignity.
He reminded them that President Paul Kagame, when he visited them on July 28, 2026, gave them advice related to continuing to uphold good conduct and playing a role in building the nation.
The 16th cohort of Indangamirwa had spent 40 days in the Itorero, where they received lessons and training aimed at instilling patriotism, proper values, and participation in Rwanda’s development.
During more than a month, participants were given lectures on Rwanda’s history, national culture, and basic training in the use of weapons including rifles, as well as methods of self‑defense.
Some of the Intore said they will be characterized by patriotism and by telling the truth against those who distort Rwanda’s history.
Dushime Aimee said she gained an important lesson in learning to work on time and to be her neighbor’s watchful eye.
The 16th cohort of Indangamirwa said the military training they received prepared them as youth who must understand that they are ready to defend their country.
