The country is expected to promote South-South cooperation and support the collective interests of developing countries in international forums.
South-South cooperation involves developing countries working together in areas such as trade, investment, technology, knowledge sharing and development.
Opportunity to Highlight Africa’s Interests
The chairmanship will also give Rwanda an opportunity to coordinate discussions on issues of particular importance to developing countries and African nations.
These include access to development financing, climate-related funding, infrastructure development, food security, industrialisation and technology.
Through the G77+ China, developing countries seek to strengthen their participation in international discussions and negotiations on global development issues.
