Uganda’s Parliament has approved the deployment of the country’s troops to the Gaza Strip as part of an international peacekeeping mission tasked with supporting the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.
The deployment forms part of a multinational force that will also include troops from Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kosovo and Albania under the “Peace Corps” initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Mission to Support Ceasefire and Protect Civilians
According to the Ugandan Parliament, the mission will help monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, protect civilians and support efforts to restore peace and stability in Gaza.
The force is expected to play a key role in maintaining security as humanitarian and reconstruction efforts continue in the Palestinian territory.

Uganda Cites Peacekeeping Experience
Uganda’s Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Jacob Oboth Oboth (or use the minister’s name exactly as provided in your source if you are following it verbatim) urged Members of Parliament to support the deployment, saying Uganda has extensive experience in international peacekeeping operations.
He pointed to the country’s contributions in Somalia, South Sudan, the Central African Republic and various United Nations peacekeeping missions, describing Uganda as a trusted partner in promoting regional and international security.

20,000-Strong Multinational Force Planned
The international mission is expected to comprise about 20,000 troops and will be led by U.S. Major General Jasper Jeffers.
According to Jeffers, the force will focus on restoring security, protecting civilians and supporting efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in Gaza.
International Effort to Stabilize Gaza
The deployment comes as international partners seek to reinforce the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel through a coordinated peacekeeping mission.
The multinational force is expected to help create a secure environment for humanitarian assistance, civilian protection and long-term peacebuilding in Gaza.
