Boys’ Football Victory
CGFK from Kicukiro District emerged as the boys’ football champions of the 2026 Kagame Cup Schools Tournament after defeating GS APE Rugunga 1–0 in the final.
The match was attended by several officials, including Dr. Nelson Mbarushimana, Director General of the Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB), Florent Habyarimana, Sports Federations Coordinator at the Ministry of Sports, and FERWAFA Technical Director Gérard Buscher.

Girls’ Football Triumph
In the girls’ football competition, PSBB from Huye District claimed the title after defeating GS APE Rugunga in a penalty shootout. This denied the Kigali‑based school a championship in both the boys’ and girls’ finals.

Other Sporting Highlights
Ecole Sainte Bernadette (ESB) of Kamonyi District was the most successful school overall, winning multiple titles. ESB secured the boys’ and girls’ 3×3 basketball championships, the girls’ basketball title, and the girls’ beach volleyball trophy. In boys’ basketball, the championship went to ITS from Gasabo District.

In handball, GS Tabagwe from Nyagatare District won the boys’ title, while ES Kiziguro claimed the girls’ championship. Nyanza TSS won the boys’ volleyball title, while GS Indangaburezi from Ruhango District emerged victorious in the girls’ category.
Gitisi TSS from Ruhango District swept both the boys’ and girls’ rugby titles, while GS Gahini from Kayonza District won the netball championship. In beach volleyball, PSVF from Huye District won the boys’ title, while ESB of Kamonyi secured the girls’ championship.
Road to FEASSSA Games
The winning teams, along with other medal‑winning schools, will represent Rwanda at the 2026 FEASSSA Games, the regional secondary schools championship for East and Central Africa. The competition is scheduled to take place in Morogoro, Tanzania, from August 12 to 23, 2026.
