Recently, the authorities of Kirehe District visited farmers in different areas, encouraging them to adopt modern farming methods that can significantly increase productivity within the “Food Basket Sites (FoBaSi)” program.

Encouraging Modern Farming Practices
During the campaign, farmers were advised to move away from traditional farming methods and adopt improved techniques such as proper use of fertilizers, timely weeding, and better post-harvest handling.
Expected Increase in Maize Productivity
Officials explained that maize production should increase to more than 10 tons per hectare, a target they believe is achievable if farmers fully apply recommended practices.

Government Support in FoBaSi Zones
FoBaSi is a government initiative that supports farmers through training, timely provision of inputs, and financial and technical assistance to improve agricultural output.
