The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has announced that 22 baby gorillas born recently will be given names during a ceremony scheduled for September 4, 2026. The ceremony, which will take place in Kinigi, near Volcanoes National Park, will be held for the 21st time.
These baby gorillas will bring the total number of gorillas that have been named to 438 since the Kwita Izina naming ceremony was launched in Rwanda in 2005.
In 2025, tourism generated more than $685 million in revenue for Rwanda, up from $647 million in 2024. The revenue came from more than 1.49 million tourists who visited Rwanda that year.
The revenue also came from various tourism activities carried out in different national parks across the country. In 2025, Rwanda’s national parks collectively received 155,394 visitors.
Meanwhile, Rwanda also benefited from hosting international conferences. In 2025, the country hosted 165 international conferences, attended by more than 61,000 participants, generating $94.7 million in revenue for Rwanda.
