The head coach of Rwanda’s women’s national team, André Cassa Mbungo, has called up 29 players to the provisional squad preparing for the qualifying matches for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The squad is made up mostly of players from clubs in Rwanda, including 11 from Rayon Sports WFC. It also includes two Rwandan players based abroad, with one playing in Spain and another in Turkey.

Goalkeepers
The goalkeeping department includes Ndakimana Angeline (Rayon Sports WFC), Mutuyimana Elisabeth (Police WFC), Ramuzi Belise (Mutunda WFC) and Niyirabatoni Diane (Bugesera WFC).
Defenders and Midfielders
Among the defenders, Cassa Mbungo has called up Uzayisenga Lydia (Rayon Sports WFC), Uwase Andersene (Rayon Sports WFC), Uwimbabazi Immaculée (APR WFC), Mukahirwa Providence (Indahangarwa WFC), Uwihirwe Josiane (Rayon Sports WFC), Mukantaganira Joselyne (Rayon Sports WFC), Ihirwe Regine (Rayon Sports WFC) and Uwanyirigira Sifa (Rayon Sports WFC).
The midfielders are Uwase Mireille (Police WFC), Mutoni Jeannette (APR WFC), Mutuyemariya Florentine (Kigali WFC), Niyonshuti Emerance (Rayon Sports WFC), Dukuzumuremyi Marie Claire (Indahangarwa WFC), Gikundiro Scholastique (Rayon Sports WFC) and Niyomukiza Angélique (Indahangarwa WFC).

Two Players Based Abroad
The squad also features two Rwandans playing outside the country. Mukagatere Emeline plays for EM Femeninas Soliss Fuesalida in Spain, while Usanase Zawadi plays for Haymana Spor Kulübü in Turkey.

Attackers Complete the Squad
The attackers include Umuhoro Angélique (Rayon Sports WFC), Umutesi Wase Magnifique (Indahangarwa WFC), Abimana Laurence (APR WFC), Uwitonze Emerance (Indahangarwa WFC), Mukeshimana Dorothée (Rayon Sports WFC), Uwingeneye Grace (Police WFC), Ishimwe Mizero Evelyne (Rayon Sports WFC) and Ishimwe Darlene (Forever Girls WFC).
Rayon Sports WFC has the largest representation in the provisional squad, with 11 players. It is followed by Indahangarwa WFC with five players, while APR WFC and Police WFC each have three.

Rwanda to Face Ethiopia
Cassa Mbungo will use the training sessions to assess the players before selecting the final squad that will represent Rwanda in the race for a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
In the first qualifying round, Rwanda will face Ethiopia on October 7, 2026, at Kigali Pele Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:00 p.m.
