The case file of Iradukunda Aimable, popularly known as Yugi Umukaraza, has been submitted to the National Public Prosecution Authority after the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) completed its investigations into allegations that he raped social media personality Shaddyboo.
According to RIB, prosecutors will now review the evidence and determine the next legal steps.
RIB Confirms Submission of the Case File
The Spokesperson of the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Dr. Murangira B. Thierry, confirmed to IGIHE that the investigation file was forwarded to the Prosecution on June 29, 2026.
Dr. Murangira said the suspect is being investigated for two alleged offenses: rape and use of narcotic drugs.
Yugi Umukaraza was arrested on June 23, 2026, following the complaint filed against him.
Allegations Arise from June 21 Incident
According to the complaint, the alleged incident occurred on the night of June 21, 2026, at Shaddyboo’s residence.
Shaddyboo told IGIHE that Yugi, whom she described as a friend, visited her home carrying two bottles of alcohol. She said they spent the evening drinking together before she lost consciousness.
She alleges that he had sexual intercourse with her without her consent while she was incapacitated by alcohol.
Shaddyboo Describes the Events
Speaking to IGIHE, Shaddyboo said she woke up the following morning naked, with Yugi lying beside her, and immediately believed she had been raped.
She said: “Yugi came to my home and we shared drinks, but I don’t know what he gave me because I found myself waking up naked, with him lying beside me. I felt that he had raped me. Imagine that I was in my menstrual period. It hurt me, and I told him so. He got scared and immediately left my home, but I told him that he has nowhere to flee because we are in Rwanda, which has justice.”
She added that she was deeply distressed because, according to her account, they had never agreed to engage in sexual relations.
Additional Drug-Related Allegation Added
In addition to the rape allegation, investigators have included an allegation of using narcotic drugs in the case file submitted to prosecutors.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed further details regarding the narcotics allegation.
Prosecution to Determine the Next Legal Steps
With the investigation now complete, the case has entered the prosecution stage. Prosecutors will examine the evidence gathered by RIB before deciding whether to file formal charges in court.
Under Rwandan law, every suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court. The allegations against Yugi Umukaraza have not yet been tested before the courts, and judicial proceedings are expected to determine the facts of the case.
