A group of 10 teachers from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) schools in Rwanda began a specialized training program on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Zhengzhou Electric Power College.
During their visit, the delegation was warmly received by Rwanda’s Ambassador to China, James Kimonyo. The teachers also met and interacted with 17 Rwandan students currently studying at the college. The visit further strengthened the growing partnership between Rwanda and China in promoting technical and vocational education.

Training Focuses on Modern Technology and Practical Skills
The 10 days training program, running from May 8 to May 18, 2026, is designed to equip the teachers with practical knowledge on modern infrastructure, advanced technologies, and contemporary teaching methods. The initiative is expected to help participants improve competency-based training and enhance the quality of hands-on learning in Rwanda’s TVET schools.
According to organizers, the training sessions will focus on innovative approaches in electrical engineering, technical instruction, digital learning systems, and industrial practices commonly used in modern vocational institutions. Participants will also gain exposure to laboratory management and the integration of technology into classroom teaching.

Ambassador Kimonyo Encourages Teachers to Maximize Opportunity
Ambassador James Kimonyo encouraged the teachers to make full use of the opportunity by acquiring skills and experiences that can contribute to the development of Rwanda’s education sector.
He emphasized that strengthening TVET education is essential for preparing young people with practical skills needed in the labor market and for supporting Rwanda’s economic transformation.

Teachers Praise Training Opportunity
The Rwandan teachers expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying the training would broaden their knowledge and help them introduce more effective teaching methods in their respective schools.

Education officials believe that such international partnerships will play a key role in improving the quality of vocational education in Rwanda, increasing students’ employability, and supporting the country’s vision of building a skilled and competitive workforce for the future.
