At the closing ceremony of a five day training program aimed at preparing for the effective implementation of the 2026 School Quality Audit, the Deputy Director General of the National Examination and School Inspection Authority, Umutoni Seconde Carlène, called on school inspectors to carry out their duties with professionalism, integrity, and teamwork in order to promote quality education in Rwanda.
In her remarks, Umutoni Seconde Carlène emphasized that improving education standards requires dedication, fairness, and close collaboration among all stakeholders involved in the education sector. She encouraged inspectors to uphold ethical values while conducting evaluations in schools across the country.

Institutions Praised for Supporting the Exercise
The Deputy Director General also expressed appreciation to institutions that partnered with NESA by providing staff members who will work alongside NESA inspectors during the nationwide exercise. She noted that the cooperation demonstrates a shared commitment to strengthening Rwanda’s education system and ensuring that students receive high-quality learning opportunities.

Training Equipped Participants With Key Inspection Skills
The training brought together 75 participants from the Ministry of Education Rwanda, Rwanda Polytechnic, NESA, as well as provincial education coordinators.
The sessions were organized to equip participants with the knowledge, practical skills, and inspection techniques needed to successfully conduct the School Quality Audit. According to organizers, the training also focused on improving communication, data collection, and reporting methods that will help inspectors assess teaching standards, school management, student performance, and the overall learning environment.

Nationwide School Audit to Begin on May 11
The nationwide School Quality Audit exercise is scheduled to officially begin on May 11 and continue until June 6, 2026. During this period, inspectors will visit 932 schools across the country to evaluate the quality of education and identify areas that require improvement. Education officials believe the exercise will contribute significantly to Rwanda’s long term vision of building a skilled and knowledgeable society through a strong and effective education system.
