More than 20 teams will compete in the upcoming CAVB Men’s African Volleyball Club Championship in Kigali.
This tournament marks the 47th edition of the continental competition. A total of 27 teams from 13 countries have already confirmed their participation. The championship remains one of the most important volleyball events in Africa.

Four Rwandan Clubs Ready to Compete
Rwanda will send four clubs to the tournament. These teams include Kepler VC, APR VC, REG VC, and Police VC.
Organizers scheduled the tournament from April 20 to May 3, 2026. They will announce the final list of participating teams on April 6, 2026.
Rwanda will field four clubs because the host country receives four slots. The national league standings from last season determine these teams.
Previous Tournaments and Rwanda’s Achievements
The 2025 edition took place in Misurata. Al Swehly Sports Club won the title, while APR VC finished in fourth place.
Rwandan volleyball made history in 2022. Gisagara VC became the first Rwandan club to win a medal in the tournament. The team secured third place after defeating Port de Douala 3–1 in sets in Kelibia.
The upcoming championship in Kigali will help promote volleyball in Rwanda. It will also show the country’s ability to host major sports events in Africa.
