Opening of the 20th Umushyikirano Edition
The Head of State made the remarks on Thursday while officially opening the 20th edition of Umushyikirano. He noted that over the years, the forum has grown into a strong pillar of Rwanda’s governance system. Its consistent organization, he said, reflects the country’s commitment to inclusive leadership and active citizen participation in decision-making processes.
Ensuring Continuity and Tangible Outcomes
President Kagame emphasized that each Umushyikirano edition builds on the outcomes of previous forums, ensuring continuity and measurable results. He explained that the resolutions adopted are not symbolic, but are instead closely followed up by responsible institutions. This approach helps transform dialogue into concrete actions that directly improve citizens’ lives.
Strengthening Citizen–Leader Engagement
The President further highlighted that Umushyikirano strengthens the relationship between leaders and citizens by offering a space where people can freely express concerns, ideas, and expectations. He said this direct engagement promotes transparency, accountability, and mutual trust, which are essential foundations for sustainable development.
Promoting Home-Grown Solutions and Unity
President Kagame also underlined that Umushyikirano reflects Rwanda’s reliance on home-grown solutions to address both local and global challenges. By fostering collective responsibility, unity, and a long-term national vision, the forum continues to play a crucial role in guiding the country toward inclusive growth and lasting transformation.
