President of Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame promoted 5,746 police officers to different ranks. Five officers moved from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Commissioner of Police (CP). Ten officers previously at Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) advanced to ACP.

The Rwanda National Police announced the promotions early on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners
The officers promoted to Commissioner of Police (CP) are Jean Népomuscène Mbonyumuvunyi, Bértin Mutezintare, Emmanuel Karasi, Barthélémy Rugwizangoga, and Fidèle Mugengana.
The 10 officers promoted to ACP include Claude Bizimana, Adolphe Nyagatare, Rango Ndoli, Callixte Kalisa, Vincent Habintwali Bihigi, Antoine Munyampundu, Faustin Kalimba, Hodali Rwanyindo, Christian Safari, and Alexis Nyamwasa.
Senior Officer Promotions
The promotions affected both senior and junior officers. Among senior officers: five moved from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), 94 from CSP to SSP, and 161 from Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) to Superintendent of Police (SP).
Additionally, 574 officers advanced from Inspector of Police (IP) to CIP. Seventeen officers moved from Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) to IP.
Non-Commissioned and Junior Rank Promotions
Among non-commissioned officers: 282 moved from Staff Sergeant (S/SGT) to Chief Sergeant (C/SGT). Seven hundred sixty-three officers advanced from Sergeant (SGT) to Staff Sergeant (S/SGT).
Also, 1,886 officers were promoted from Corporal (CPL) to Sergeant (SGT), and 1,949 from Police Constable (PC) to Corporal (CPL).
