Early Life and Education
Jean Maurice Uwera began his professional career after completing his studies in journalism. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Communication Studies from the Catholic Institute of Kabgayi. Before joining the media industry, he briefly worked in the hospitality sector. This early experience helped him develop strong communication and people skills.
Entry into Media Career
Uwera joined the media industry in 2011. He started as a Production Manager at Flash FM & TV. In this role, he gained hands-on experience in content production, programming, and media operations. His work helped improve the quality of broadcasts and strengthened teamwork within the newsroom.
Career at Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA)
In 2016, Jean Maurice Uwera joined the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA). He worked as a Senior Presenter at Rwanda Television (RTV). Viewers across the country recognized him for his clear presentation style and professional conduct.
Later, he became Station Manager of Magic FM. In this leadership role, he oversaw daily operations and guided editorial planning. He worked closely with journalists and producers to ensure accurate and timely information for the public. His time at RBA played a key role in building his national profile.

Leadership at SK FM
Since February 2025, Jean Maurice Uwera has served as Executive Director of 93.9 SK FM. At the station, he provides editorial leadership and manages overall operations.
