Iranian Drone Attack on British Bases
Iranian drones recently targeted British military bases in Cyprus. The attack raised serious concerns about the safety of UK troops stationed there.
After the incident, British officials decided to strengthen security and increase their military presence in the area.
Additional Defense Measures in Cyprus
The UK also sent AW159 Wildcat helicopters to Cyprus. These helicopters help detect and stop hostile drones.
Officials say they will focus on threats from the Shahed drone, a type of suicide drone linked to Iran.
Tensions with the United States
Relations between the United Kingdom and the United States have become tense. Prime Minister Starmer refused to allow American forces to use British bases in Cyprus to attack Iran or respond to Iranian strikes.
Starmer said the UK invests in its military and diplomacy to protect its people. He added that Britain will stand firm and defend its values even under pressure.
