He made these remarks on Monday, April 6, 2026, during a press briefing with journalists.
Details of the Aircraft Incident
Iranian forces shot down the aircraft on April 3, 2026. Early reports said one pilot was missing. Later, U.S. authorities confirmed they rescued the pilot safely.
The incident quickly drew attention because of its security risks and the speed at which the news spread.
Threats Against Media Organizations
During the briefing, Donald Trump strongly criticized the media outlets that first reported the story. He warned that those responsible could face arrest.
He said: “We had kept this information classified for over an hour, then someone released it, We believe we will find them. Our teams are working hard to identify the source of the leak. We will approach the media organizations that published it first and tell them, ‘for national security reasons, you must reveal your source or face imprisonment.’”
National Security Concerns
According to Trump, the report may have put national security at risk. He said the government is working to identify the source and take action against those involved.
His remarks have sparked concern about press freedom and raised questions about the balance between national security and the role of journalism in informing the public.
