Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda, Olivier Nduhungirehe is on an official visit to India aimed at reinforcing bilateral relations between the two nations. The visit reflects Rwanda’s commitment to deepening cooperation with strategic partners to promote sustainable development and mutual prosperity.

High-Level Talks on Bilateral Cooperation
During his stay, the Minister is participating in a high-level meeting focused on enhancing collaboration across key sectors. According to a statement released on March 2, 2026, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Rwanda, the two-day meeting runs from March 2 to March 3, 2026.
Discussions are centered on reviewing progress in existing partnerships and identifying new opportunities in health, education, trade, and technology.
Engagement with Indian Foreign Affairs Officials
As part of the official programme, Minister Nduhungirehe was received by senior officials from India’s foreign service, including the Head of the East and Southern Africa Division at the Ministry of External Affairs.
These engagements aim to strengthen diplomatic coordination and ensure effective implementation of joint initiatives.
A Strong Foundation of Partnership Since 2018
Rwanda–India relations gained significant momentum in 2018 following the historic visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Rwanda. This marked a turning point in bilateral ties and led to the signing of several cooperation agreements.
The agreements covered strategic areas such as security, trade, agriculture, dairy development, leather value chains, and cultural exchange, laying a solid foundation for long-term collaboration.
Growing Trade and Investment Cooperation
India remains one of Rwanda’s key partners in trade and investment, particularly in the supply of medical products and industrial goods. Indian investors are active in sectors such as mining, agriculture, construction, and manufacturing.
Notable companies operating in Rwanda include Airtel, Virunga Biotech Ltd, Marasa Holding, Accacia Property Development, Kabuye Sugar Works Sarl, Imana Steel Rwanda Ltd, Cardiac Specialty Rwanda, Rugabano Tea Company Ltd, and Gisovu Tea Company Ltd.
These investments continue to contribute to job creation, skills transfer, and economic growth, reinforcing the strategic partnership between Rwanda and India.
