The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) has announced new prices for petroleum products. A liter of gasoline now costs 2303 Frw, while diesel has increased to 2205 Frw. The changes also include a revision of the basic price for travel.
Announcement and Effective Date
RURA made the announcement on April 3, 2026. The new prices take effect on April 4, 2026, at 6:00 AM across the country.

Previous Fuel Prices
The last fuel price review took place on March 4, 2026. At that time, gasoline cost 1,989 Frw and diesel cost 1,948 Frw. The new update shows a clear rise in prices.
Public Advisory from RURA
RURA has called on citizens to change how they travel. It stated, “Rwandans are requested to plan their trips carefully, use public transport and avoid unnecessary trips, with the aim of reducing the consumption of petroleum products.”
Transport Fares Also Revised
The increase in fuel prices has also affected public transport fares. In the City of Kigali, passengers now pay 59.28 Frw per kilometer. Those traveling to the provinces pay 41.58 Frw per kilometer. These changes reflect the new cost of fuel.
