The City of Rwamagana, together with the Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) and other partners, led residents in a large-scale activity to promote cleanliness and sanitation. The initiative aims to protect the environment, improve public health, and support sustainable development.

Cleaning Public Spaces Across the City
Residents focused on markets, main roads, commercial centers, and other crowded areas. They worked alongside local authorities to clean streets, collect waste, and dispose of it properly. Additionally, participants learned about maintaining cleanliness in daily life.
Leaders Praise Residents and Partners
The Deputy Mayor in charge of Economic Development, Mr. Kagabo Richards Rwamunono, joined the activity and praised residents and institutions that helped organize it. He highlighted that cleanliness is a shared responsibility: “Cleanliness and sanitation are the foundation of good health and sustainable development. A clean city brings pride, attracts investors, and helps residents live better lives. We call upon everyone to continue playing an active role in maintaining cleanliness where they live, work, and move.”
Strengthening Sanitation Programs
Mr. Rwamunono added that the city will expand sanitation efforts. The plans include improving waste management systems, working with private partners, and educating the public about proper use of sanitation facilities. Furthermore, residents are encouraged to avoid actions that harm the environment.
Residents Embrace Responsibility
Residents expressed gratitude for the collaboration, saying that participating in sanitation activities helps them feel responsible for building their city and protecting their health. They also pledged to continue joining community initiatives.
