The Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, Con Korfiatis, announced the plan during an official working visit to Oman by Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe. The announcement highlights the growing relationship between the two countries.
New Route to Boost Tourism and Trade
The direct flights will improve air connectivity between the Middle East and East Africa. They will also position Kigali as a key hub for passengers and cargo traveling between the two regions. The route will reduce travel time and costs for tourists, businesspeople, and investors.
Rwanda expects the flights to increase tourist arrivals from Oman and other Gulf countries. The route will also support exports of Rwandan products, including agricultural goods and handicrafts, to Middle Eastern markets. Oman will benefit from easier access to Rwanda’s growing market and its role as a gateway to East and Central Africa.
Overall, the new route reflects stronger diplomatic and economic ties between Rwanda and Oman, as both countries expand cooperation in aviation, trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
