On Sunday morning, ahead of Stage Eight of Tour du Rwanda 2026, amateur cyclists gathered in Kigali for a vibrant Mass Ride. Young people, families, and cycling fans joined the event to celebrate their love for the sport.

Promoting Cycling and Healthy Living
The organizers launched the Mass Ride to strengthen Rwanda’s cycling culture. They also encouraged citizens to adopt healthy and active lifestyles. Participants showed that sport can unite communities and improve well-being. The ride gave many people a chance to take part in the excitement of Tour du Rwanda.
Showcasing Kigali’s Roads
Cyclists rode along major roads across Kigali. The event highlighted the city’s clean streets and strong road network. Many riders praised the smooth routes and safe environment. The activity also showed that Kigali can host large sporting events with ease.
Community Participation Beyond Kigali
Organizers also held a similar Mass Ride in Rubavu District before Stage Five. Residents in Rubavu joined with enthusiasm. The initiative helped connect local communities to the international race.
A First in Tour du Rwanda History
This year marks the first time organizers have included amateur Mass Rides in Tour du Rwanda. The competition takes place for the 18th time since it became international in 2009. Leaders hope this new approach will expand access to cycling and inspire more people to join the sport.
