BasiGo Rwanda has appointed Kizihira Jones as its new Managing Director. The announcement was made on March 23, 2026, through the company’s official communication channels.
Kizihira previously led the Pay-As-You-Drive division, where he focused on making electric buses more accessible through flexible financing models.
2. Strong Performance Behind the Promotion
Since joining the company in February 2025, Kizihira has shown strong leadership and innovation. He played a major role in building financing solutions that help public transport operators acquire electric buses more easily.
His work improved affordability and helped address challenges related to cost, operations, and sustainability.
3. Driving Innovation in Electric Bus Financing
Kizihira contributed to designing installment-based payment systems that allow transport companies to acquire buses without high upfront costs.
He also helped tackle key issues such as tax structures, legal frameworks, and operational efficiency. These efforts strengthened partnerships and supported the company’s growth in Rwanda’s transport sector.
4. Experience and Leadership Background
Before joining BasiGo Rwanda, Kizihira Jones served as Managing Director of AC Mobility, known for its Tap&Go payment system.
He also worked as Chief Technology Officer at the Business Development Fund, which later merged with the Development Bank of Rwanda.
Kizihira replaces Doreen Orishaba, who previously held the position.
5. Expanding Electric Mobility in Rwanda
BasiGo Rwanda launched its operations in Rwanda in December 2023 with a pilot electric bus. Since then, it has expanded services in Kigali and along routes such as Kigali–Muhanga–Nyanza–Huye.
The company aims to operate 100 electric buses by the end of the 2025/26 period. Under Kizihira’s leadership, it also seeks to promote wider adoption of electric vehicles and support Rwanda’s transition to cleaner, environmentally friendly transport systems.
