Reducing Travel and Ensuring Timely Care
Daily operations will help residents avoid long trips to larger health centers. Furthermore, faster access to medical care will prevent illnesses from worsening due to delays. Residents can now receive treatment promptly and conveniently.
Alignment with National Health Programs
Kirehe District Mayor, Rangira Bruno, said the initiative supports national programs that decentralize essential services. He emphasized: “Our goal is to ensure that every resident can access healthcare services on time and close to where they live. Daily operation of basic health facilities is a major step toward improving the quality of healthcare and safeguarding the health of our population.”
Strengthening Facilities and Staff Capacity
The district will collaborate with health institutions and development partners to ensure facilities are well-staffed, supplied with essential medical tools, and stocked with necessary medicines. Health managers are encouraged to maintain high service standards, respect working hours, and provide proper care for all patients. Additionally, they should strengthen cooperation with village-level community health workers to promote disease prevention and early medical attention.
Residents Welcome the Initiative
Residents across Kirehe District praised the move, noting that daily health services will be especially helpful during emergencies. Previously, some facilities were closed, causing delays in care. The community believes that this initiative will increase trust in the healthcare system and reduce risks from late medical intervention. The district’s efforts reflect its commitment to accessible, people-centered, and sustainable healthcare, which supports overall development and improved living standards.
