The President of the Confédération Africaine de Volleyball (CAVB), Bouchra Hajij, arrived in Kigali on Wednesday night. She came to Rwanda to support preparations for a major continental volleyball tournament.
At the airport, Raphaël Ngarambe, President of the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB), welcomed her. Meanwhile, officials from the federation also joined the reception.

Rwanda Confirms Hosting Rights
During the visit, sports leaders signed an agreement confirming that Rwanda will host the CAVB Men’s African Club Championship.
According to officials, the tournament is one of the most important club volleyball competitions in Africa. Every year, it brings together top clubs from across the continent. As a result, the event attracts strong teams and large audiences.
Africa’s Best Clubs Expected to Compete
The upcoming tournament will mark the 47th edition of the championship. It will feature champion clubs from many African countries.
In addition, organizers will invite several other strong teams to compete. Therefore, the championship will likely produce exciting and competitive matches for fans.
Kigali to Host Matches in April and May
The competition will take place in Kigali from April 20 to May 3. Organizers will stage matches in major indoor arenas across the city.
Consequently, the event will attract teams, officials, and supporters from several African countries.
Event Expected to Boost Rwanda’s Sports Profile
Rwanda continues to host major international sporting events. Therefore, this tournament will further strengthen the country’s reputation as a regional sports hub.
In addition, officials expect the championship to promote volleyball development and increase sports tourism. Local fans will also get the chance to watch some of Africa’s best volleyball clubs compete.
