Social programs aimed at improving food security and promoting self-reliance among citizens are also supported.
Review of Project Implementation
Meanwhile, the MPs reviewed how the allocated budget is being used by examining completed projects, those currently under implementation, and projects scheduled to begin. They discussed challenges such as delays, rising costs, and resource limitations.
The MPs emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and efficiency in managing public funds to ensure development programs deliver clear and lasting benefits to citizens.
Importance of Citizen Participation
Furthermore, the MPs highlighted the role of community involvement in development planning and implementation. They noted that when citizens actively participate, projects are more likely to meet local needs and remain sustainable over time.
District leaders were therefore encouraged to continue engaging citizens at all stages of development programs.
MPs Commend Performance and Call for Continued Improvement
At the end of the visit, the Committee commended Nyagatare District for the progress made in financial management and development project implementation. However, they urged district authorities to further improve performance by closely monitoring ongoing projects and preventing any misuse or inefficiency of public resources.
